# FAQ

> Straight answers about swapping on LightSwap: accounts, rates, timing, and what to do when something looks wrong.

## Getting started

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Do I need an account to swap?">
    No. A swap starts from your wallet: pick a pair, get a quote, send a deposit. No sign-up, no KYC. An [account](https://lightswap.me/account) is optional and adds balances, history, referrals, and more.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I start a swap?">
    Open [lightswap.me](https://lightswap.me), pick what you send and what you receive, and enter the amount. Check the quote, add your receiving address, and send the deposit. The [four-step walkthrough](/how-swaps-work) shows each stage.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Which wallet address should I use?">
    The address of the wallet where you want to receive the new coins, on the network you picked for the payout. Check it carefully. A wrong address means the coins go somewhere else, and nobody can pull them back.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Which networks and assets does LightSwap support?">
    1,000+ assets across dozens of networks, cross-chain in both directions. The live list is in the app's asset picker. Details on the [networks page](/supported-networks).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is LightSwap custodial?">
    No. You send a deposit for a specific swap, and the payout goes straight to your wallet. We hold no balance in between.
  </Accordion>

## Money and timing

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="What does a swap cost?">
    The quote includes the service fee and the network costs on our side. The only separate cost is the network fee your own wallet charges to send the deposit. Breakdown on [Fees and rates](/fees-and-rates).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is the rate final before I send funds?">
    The quote is the number to review before you send, but rates float with the market. If prices move while your deposit travels, the final amount can come out slightly higher or lower.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is there a minimum or maximum amount?">
    Yes. It depends on the pair, the networks, and the current route. The swap form shows the allowed range before you continue.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How long does a swap take?">
    Most swaps finish within minutes. Timing depends on how fast your deposit confirms and how busy the networks are. Cross-chain swaps take longer.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What is a memo or destination tag?">
    An extra identifier some networks use on top of the address. XRP, Stellar, and Cosmos are the usual ones. If the swap form shows a memo field, fill it in exactly, or your transfer can be delayed for manual review.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What is a transaction hash?">
    The unique ID of your transfer on the blockchain. You'll find it in your wallet's activity list or on the network's explorer. Support uses it to trace your transfer quickly.
  </Accordion>

## When something looks wrong

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="My swap status hasn't moved. What now?">
    Give the sending network time to confirm your deposit first. That is the most common reason for a pause. Then recheck the swap page. If it still hasn't moved, [contact support](/support) with your order ID and transaction hash.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My quote expired before I sent the deposit.">
    Don't send anything to the old deposit details. Start a new swap to get a fresh rate and new instructions.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I sent too little, or used the wrong network.">
    The swap may fail or go to manual review. Don't send more funds to the same quote. [Contact support](/support) with your order ID and transaction hash.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I cancel a swap after sending?">
    Once funds move on-chain, the transfer usually can't be cancelled. If you sent something by mistake, contact support right away. The sooner we know, the more options there are.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why does my swap need extra review?">
    A small number of swaps get flagged by compliance or risk checks. When that happens, we pause the swap and tell you what we need. It's rare.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What should I send support so they can help fast?">
    Your order ID, the transaction hash, the asset and network you used, and the address where you expected the payout. Add a sentence about what happened.
  </Accordion>
